This record is technically a compilation, although it is in fact a reasonably straight-forward fusion of the first two best-of-year LPs, rounding up 1969 and 1970 together.
It appeared during the main Israeli sequence, between their standard Number 5 and number 6. But to muddy the waters, Israel numbered their end-of-year albums independently, so this one is titled "Top of the Pops Vol. 1".
The cover art is taken from the otherwise unrelated UK Volume 9, issued before Israel got in on the act.
On the back cover, the notes are reproduced from the UK Best of 1969 but the line, "From the many hits of 1969, we have chosen..." is altered to read, "From the many hits of 1971, we have chosen..." - which is, to say the least, confusing (there are no hits from 1971 on the LP).
The catalogue number, SHM 705, shows it clearly to be an equivalent to the familiar Best of 1970, which carried that number in the UK, and so this is where it is placed in the chronology.
