Israel
Israel was one of the most prolific issuers of Top of the Pops, starting as
early as volume 12 in mid-1970. These albums came out on an Israeli version of the Hallmark label.
Their treatment of the LPs resulted in some interesting variants - the albums tended to use the same cover images repeatedly, with different colour filters - for example the three releases of 1970 all had variations on the same photo. They also had the song titles printed in Hebrew on the front.
New volume numbers were introduced starting with Number 1, on what we recognise as volume 12, and just to confuse matters further, Israel used another, independent numbering system for the end-of-year collections, also starting with Number 1!
All of this novelty came to an abrupt end with Volume 20, after which the covers corresponded exactly with the UK albums. However Hebrew lettering was reintroduced in 1973.
Israel issued almost all the standard albums from 1970 until late-1973, including at least three of the Europe editions - despite the overlap of contents. Thereafter our listing is extremely sparse. At present we have Volume 69 listed late-on, in isolation, but there were probably others around the same time. (Volume 69 was on the little-known Chimo label.)
NB - Although some of the LP covers do not differ from the UK editions, all the photos below are of bona-fide Israeli editions. For this reason, we include a couple of very low-res images, for want of superior photographs.
