This 4-track EP was released on the Music World label. Music
World seemed keen to embark on pushing the original artists, and their EPs, including this one, cheekily carried photographs
of the original acts on the fronts.
The artists under the spotlight here are Abba, and four Top of the Pops cuts have been selected for this record. The tracks in question include "Mama Mia" from Volume 50, which places the release at around Spring 1976, probably the same time as the similar Bay City Rollers EP, which plundered Volume 49.
On the backs, Music World used Hot Hits’ slogan “Can you tell the difference between these and the original sounds?”, amending it slightly to read, “Can you tell the difference between these and the originals?”. Well, not until the needle hit the vinyl you couldn’t! Note also, the back covers make reference to "The Top of the Poppers Singers", a slightly new identity for the crew.
All the tracks on this EP appeared on the Music World album, Top of the Poppers Present 20 Hits of Abba and Other Great Groups, making it a spin-off release.
