The full title of this album is:
Heart Throb: The Top of the Poppers Present 15 Hits of David Cassidy & The Partridge Family, The Osmonds, The Jackson Five
This album continues New Zealand's interest in pushing specific artists, and like their earlier "Supergroups" collection, devotes its contents to three acts - in this case those who have earned a following amongst teenaged females - hence the "Heart Throb" of the title.
Of the titles mentioned on the front cover, "Rock Me Baby" was a hit for David Cassidy, "Ben" for Michael Jackson and "Twelfth of Never" for Donny Osmond. Thus, despite pointing out that David Cassidy was a member of The Partidge Family, the cover accepts solo hits by a Jackson and an Osmond, as if they were group efforts!
To compound matters, the tartan on the cover suggests the photo was taken at a Bay City Rollers gig. And pedants will notice that whereas Motown were careful to name their act "Jackson 5" (with the numeral, 5), the cover overlooks this detail and writes out "Five".
As far as a release date goes, the tracks run up to Volume 32 (mid-1973), and as the catalogue number comes after the late-1973 Elvis set, the album must have been released after that.
It is interesting to note that the New Zealand label used the standard Top of the Pops typeface on the cover.
