Sleeve notes:

We’re 39 today. No, we’re not old squares, ‘cos we have a birthday every six or seven weeks that puts us in the Trendy Group. We’re the Top of the Pops crowd and this is our 39th album with the best of to-day’s Pop hits.

It’s darn hard work trying to pick a nicely balanced selection of pop, rock and ballad every few weeks to please all of you pop experts - but we love it, and we love you ‘cos all of you have helped make “Top of the Pops” the world’s best-selling, regularly released pop album.

So, keep it up lads and lassies, Mums and Dads of the trendy type, and all you other pop faithfuls. Get playing, pin back thy noble ears and move, move to the great sounds we’ve produced for you.

Comments: Following the recycling job which spawned the cover of Volume 36, Top of the Pops were at it again in July with another sleeve borrowed from the European series. This time the fourth of those albums was plundered, although for reasons unclear, Hallmark set the model against a darker background. The Euro LP was also issued in Israel at the time (see below).

In 2015, rock band, Spare Snare released a vinyl 45, No Quise Angustiarte/More Action Heroes on the Chute Records label. The back of the sleeve and the B-side label were adaptations of this Top of the Pops sleeve. (The other side of each used artwork from Volume 18.)
