THE GREATEST HITS ON RECORD! Yes, once again the Pickwick people have picked 12 super-great chart sounds… all here in TOP OF THE POPS Volume 46. They’ve toiled away in a hot sticky studio together with some of the finest musical talent around; they’ve spent hours mixing tapes to produce the perfect sound, the Pickwick super-sound… and what a result! No wonder Top of the Pops is the World’s largest selling regularly released L.P.! It’s a fantastic record - every song’s a winner. Listen and find out why! |
Comments: The version of "Have You Seen Her" on this LP is a remake. It was originally recorded for volume 22 in 1972, but when the Chi-Lites' version re-entered the charts in 1975, the Top of the Poppers had another stab at it.
100 Unhip Albums - book release
The book, left, was published in 2019, authored by Ian Moss. It contains essays on albums which the author maintains are credible, but unfashionable. It doesn't appear to contain any Top of the Pops LPs among the 100, but the cover art makes it worthy of mention here. It's copied straight from volume 46, and shows the degree to which Top of the Pops sleeves are recognisably iconic. |
