This is probably the world's first Top of the Pops double LP - but there is confusion over it! It is listed on internet sites as a double album, with the above catalogue number and track listing. However when we purchased a copy, we were disappointed to find the sleeve pictured above contained only one LP - sides 1 and 2.
The sleeve was strange in that it had an open edge on both the left and the right - rather impractical! An obvious explanation would be that this was originally a gatefold sleeve which had been chopped in two, and we received just half of the album.
However there is more... the vinyl LP we have is numbered 92 898, despite the sleeve saying 92 897. And there is another album by this same name, numbered 69 087, which is a single album of songs selected from this double album!

We can't say we know exactly what's going on here, but in any case, the album(s) source the material from volumes 12 to 15. Top of the Pops are not mentioned anywhere, but the label does credit Pickwick.
The label itself, on our half-double album, is S*R. We would like to aquire the other part of it! Where else in the world can one hear "The Pushbike Song" and "Voodoo Chile" programmed back to back??
