Australia Volume 21 (SRA 250 563)
This album was pressed in Australia, and is worthy of special mention
because of one significant alteration: A track change.
Left off is "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West)", and in its place is the worthy "Theme From Shaft" - which interestingly, was never released in the UK, and is sourced from Europe Edition 2 (which is contemporary with volume 21).
"Shaft" is listed on the front cover between "Coz I Love You" and "Gypsys Tramps and Thieves", exactly taking the place of ""Ernie" (see below for comparison). It has also had a straight swap in the playing order, siting as track 4 of side 2, between "Surrender" and "Tokoloshe Man".

The back cover retains the graphic of the recent album chart listing, although it is of course the UK chart - not particularly meaningful for Australian buyers. And the text also keeps its British references, including the UK catalogue number in the sleeve notes.
Different pressing
Interestingly, there are copies of the Australian edition where the record label logos on the front cover have not been swapped from Hallmark to Summit. Perhaps the art department were preoccupied with changing the song title panel, and just forgot! Although identical to the UK cover, pictured right is a bona fide Australian copy with the Hallmark logo intact. (The back cover had the usual changes, as pictured above).
We are grateful to Frank McDonald for information on this release, and for the cover photographs. |
