Sleeve notes:

Hallmark “Top of the Pops” is the best selling, regularly released L.P. in the world.

In Britain particularly each new version is always very high in the British L.P. charts, including three successive No. 1 spots. But enormous sales are also made on the International Scene.

The reasons for this fabulous success are easy to find. Regularly all the songs featured on each issue figure high in the American and British charts. The most important fact, together with the highest possible recording standards, unequalled manufacturing quality and an attractive sleeve design spell out TOP SALES on an International scale. Now, for the first time ever, we have produced “TOP OF THE POPS - EUROPEAN EDITION”. This is it. We have culled the cream of the British and American charts and in addition we have included six fantastic best selling European hits. These are, Borriquito - Blossom Lady - One Way Wind - Soldiers Who Want To Be Heroes - Mamy Blue - Help. Our recording engineers and our artists have produced what we believe is a magnificent L.P.

Our last three “Top of the Pops” records have all shot to No. 1 in the British charts. Let us all co-operate in making this album No. 1 - EUROPE.

We are proud to present - “TOP OF THE POPS - EUROPEAN EDITION”.

Comments: According to the sleeve notes to the subsequent Europe Edition 2, this LP was awarded gold discs in two different countries. The cover image is familiar to UK collectors, featuring the same shot as was subsequently used on the standard volume 36, two and a half years later.
