As with Music World's recent Elvis-themed album, this record is a re-issue of an earlier LP on Hallmark/Maestro, but with extra tracks bumping the contents up to 20.
In this case, we essentially have a re-issue of the Beatles' Sing & Play collection. It will be noted that the word "Golden" appears in the title, like it did on the Elvis album, and the full title is, The Top of the Poppers Present Twenty Golden Hits of The Beatles.
The first eleven tracks are the original album in the correct sequence. Thereafter we have nine new titles, of unknown origins. "Yesterday" could well be The Poppers' version from Volume 51, "Hey Jude" from Volume 2, and "Yellow Submarine" from Top of the Tots Volume 2. "I Feel Fine" and "From Me To You" could be the versions from Revived 45s.
If these guesses are correct, it leaves "Hello Goodbye", "Lady Madonna", "Help" and "Day Tripper" from a completely unknown source.
Please contact us if you can add anything to the information above.
