Sleeve notes:
Judged by any standards, The Osmonds are an incredible family, gifted, it seems, in a quite remarkable way with the talent to entertain. They do it collectively, individually and in various partnerships and always the end result is the same - hit record just follows hit record. Now the Top of the Poppers, the line-up of singers and musicians who have paid tribute to a host of top record names, turn their attention to this versatile family - and what results! It's safe to say that on this one album they've collected together the very best of The Osmonds' extensive repertoire, ranging from "Crazy Horses", which featured all the Osmonds, through to "Long haired lover from Liverpool" which Jimmy made a hit, along with "I'm gonna knock on your door". Then there's Marie's hits "Paper roses" and "In my little corner of the world"; and inevitably the monster hits that Donny enjoyed, with "When I fall in love", "Young love", "12th of never" and "Puppy love". Some of the songs were around long before The Osmonds but this family have a knack of making everything sounds as fresh as today. It's a feeling the Top of the Poppers have aimed for in this tribute and what's more it comes off in the happiest and most entertaining way. |
Comments: All of these tracks were already available from the main series, released between volumes 25 and 40. The title was slightly misleading since not just hits by the group featured, but also those by various permutations of its individual members including Little Jimmy and heart-throb Donny.
