Spain Volume 5 ("Top of Hits") (22.413)
This LP is essentially a pressing of
volume 5, but there are a couple of track switches evident: dropped from
the usual listing are "Get Back", Elton John's reading of "Snake
In The Grass" and "Ragamuffin Man".
In their place we find "Atlantis" and "Albatross", both from volume 3, plus "Sorry Suzanne" from volume 4. (So this LP is technically a compilation.)
Since the album plunders the two preceding Top of the Pops LPs, there is good reason to suppose this was Spain's first - otherwise, they would be re-issuing tracks already available.
The cover design is new and quite striking, while the title has also been changed to (the slightly odd) "Top of Hits". And, for whatever reason, Belter opted to invent names for the performers on the record, implying falsely that this is a various artists effort! One of the names given, The Town Sparrows, had been in use by the Belter label for some years on unrelated covers records. It is not known how any of the names used here were derived.
The running order, together with the "acts" are as follows:
Side 1:
