Sleeve notes:
Thank you, kids, for making our first ‘Top of the Tots’ such a fab best seller. We asked you if you wanted us to make another one for you – and you asked us in your hundreds. So here it is, the second ‘Top of the Tots’, made specially for you! Again, we’ve picked what we think are the very best pop tunes that came out over the past two or three years, tunes we believe will appeal specially to kids. We don’t want Mums and Dads and oldies to buy this album – unless they’re buying it for you! This L.P. is a Kids’ special. Write and let us know how you like it. |
Comments: To make up the numbers, this LP required two new recordings in "Popcorn" and "Yellow Submarine". It also pulled in three tracks from Sing & Play The Beatles' Golden Hits. The cover features marionette figures supplied by renowned Wiltshire firm Pelham Puppets, with their spherical heads made from the balls used by coconut shies! Here we have a gentleman puppet in military attire known as ‘Fritzi’, opposite his ladypuppet counterpart who goes by the name 'Mitzi'.
Cassette re-issue
"Hits For Kids" was a double-pack cassette on Pickwick's Ditto label. The two tapes were uncredited, but were in fact re-issues of Top of the Tots volumes 1 and 2. It is interesting that both the cassette inserts have a sample list of songs above the photo, but all nine titles are to be found on volume 1. |
